LAKE POWELL

A crystal blue sea in the middle of the desert  ...

The Lake Powell was established in 1963 when the Glen Canyon dam held Colorado waters. Thus was born the landscape as we know it today: a vast blue lake surrounded by magnificent sandstone walls.

Creating a unique playground in the world, the lake took nearly 17 years to fill the canyon, providing America with its second largest artificial lake.

Over the water

Located on the border of Arizona and Utah, the lake offers a wide range of activities that make it a popular summer destination. Take the opportunity to rent a small boat without permit, or take a ferry to visit the canyons.

The Lake Powell offers a large variety of arches sculpted over water and wind. Discover the enchanting Rainbow Bridge, one of the most spectacular natural bridges that nature has created with its 87 meters high.

If you want to access to the site on foot, you will need to get an authorization issued by the Navajo authorities. Considered as a sacred place by the Indians, the site is extremely controlled by the tribe who calls it "Stone Rainbow".
